At “Kikuchi Naruyoshi and Pepetorumento Ascarar,” Yuka Konishi, a bass-playing newcomer in her twenties, joins the decade-long duo of Naruyoshi Kikuchi and Masaki Hayashi. This will be a completely improvised and standards-half-and-half, acoustic and tranquil collaboration. With a sharpened yet ecological and relaxed sound, please enjoy a minimalist sonic image that is different from Kikuchi’s usual.

We offer a set in which you can savor the concept of the album “Flowers and Water” — improvised performance conducted with the Japanese-style focus of tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and haiku — as the number of players increases from one to two to three. Given these times, I believe both performers and audiences need to cultivate a wellspring of calm and healing in their hearts. Please relax and enjoy the flowers we arrange on stage, the tea we brew, and the songs we intone.
