Singer-songwriter Mari Iijima makes her third appearance at Billboard Live Yokohama. In 1983, as a new artist produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, she debuted with her first full-length album Rose, writing all the lyrics and music. The tracks, including “Love Sick” and the single “Cecile’s Umbrella,” drew substantial attention and popularity in the recent City Pop boom. In 1989 she moved to Los Angeles, and in 1999 she established her own label ＜marimusic＞. From the label’s founding to this 27th year, she has consistently released work. In recent years, her albums have ranked on indie charts, continuing her unique activities that are distinctly hers.
