One of the world’s leading bandoneon players, Kazuma Miura, who also handles the Taiga Chronicle for NHK’s new taiga drama "Seiten o Tsuke," makes his Billboard Live debut with his music project Kazuma Miura Electronic Sextet. A virtuoso who has continued to seek the ideal musical ensemble, paying tribute to Piazzolla’s “music” and its “life,” a new musical project started in 2024.

Headlining the lineup are Kazuma Miura—Néstor Marconi’s student and the first Japanese and youngest runner-up at the 2008 International Piazzolla Competition—violinist Yasuhisa Ishida, a prize-winning musician who serves as the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra’s Principal Solo Concertmaster (the “face” of the Kanagawa Philharmonic); Mao Sone, a trumpeter and pianist known for his “jazz double-threat” role supporting a wide range of artists and hosting sessions; and a highly acclaimed young musician with classical roots who is expanding his activities across multiple fields.

From Piazzolla’s tango reform in Buenos Aires to a decision rooted in his Italian heritage—recording the album Libertango and forming Conjunto Electronico (Electronic Ensemble)—Piazzolla, who once said “this project was a failure” about many of his works, is now elevating them by blending with modern technology and theory, and this electro-project has finally begun.
