In April 2005, the four‑member band Kariyushi58, formed in Okinawa, announced a Billboard Live Yokohama/Osaka tour. Their sound, which blends Okinawan scales with rock and reggae, and messages woven in plain, unadorned words, have been loved by a wide range of generations. The song “Anmaa,” which straightly expresses gratitude to their mother, drew widespread empathy and won the Newcomer Award at the Japan Cable Awards. This year marks their 18th anniversary since debut; feel the colors of summer with their unique “Shima Uta”—a song born and raised in Okinawa that only they can perform.
