World-renowned bandoneonist Kazuma Miura launched the project “Kazuma Miura Electronic Sextet” in 2024, and a three-venue Billboard Live tour has been announced. Paying tribute to Piazzolla’s “music” and “life,” this work brings together musicians of extraordinary technique who pursue the ideal instrumentation. Centered on Miura, who studied under Piazzolla’s direct heir, the apex, Néstor Marconi, and who became Japan’s first and youngest runner-up at the 2008 Piazzolla Competition, the lineup also includes Kanagawa Philharmonic’s principal solo concertmaster Ishida Taishō and jazz world’s noted “dual-discipline” trumpeter and pianist Mao Sone. From Piazzolla’s Libertango recordings, the works of the Conjunto Electronico (Electronic Ensemble) era are reconstructed with modern technology and music theory.
