John Carroll Kirby, a keyboardist, producer, and musician from Los Angeles, will take the Billboard Live stage for the first time in about four years. He has drawn attention for his cross-genre activities, including collaborations with Solange and Frank Ocean, performances at Fuji Rock and Asagiri Jam, a US tour with Khruangbin, and participation in a tribute project to Haruomi Hosono. In 2020, he released his debut album My Garden on Stones Throw. His latest album Blowout won Best Jazz Album at the A2IM Libera Awards, often described as the Grammys of the indie music world. In this rare solo performance to be presented at Billboard Live Tokyo and Osaka, he will perform tracks from his solo piano works Conflict and Tuscany, as well as premiere unreleased songs in Japan for the first time; in addition, existing songs will be performed in new arrangements using piano and synthesizer.
