Overview
As one of Japan’s pioneering figures in bossa nova, Lisa Ono has established an unwavering position and will appear at Billboard Live in the autumn. In 1989 she released her debut album Katopiri, and her 1999 album Dream was a hit, selling over 200,000 copies. She has four times received the Jazz category award at the Japan Gold Disc Award. She has also built close ties with the god of bossa nova, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and with João Gilberto, who passed away last year, and has continued to perform worldwide. This time, leading a five-member band, with the theme of “The Great American Songbook,” she will present a special stage featuring carefully selected American classics in jazz arrangements unique to Lisa Ono. Please enjoy her world of music, where a natural vocal tone and guitar sounds soothe the club atmosphere.
