65th Grammy Awards — Live commemorating the Best Global Music Album win.
Masa Takumi
Overview
Composer and arranger Masanori Takumi, who won the Best Global Music Album at the 65th Grammy Awards for Sakura, an album released under the name “Masa Takumi” in September 2022. He made his major debut in 2000 with the rock band Siren, and after working as a drummer and a composer/arranger, has been active mainly in artist production and music for film and video. He has written and produced songs for EXILE, DA PUMP, AAA, KARA, among others; and has handled orchestration for anime such as CLYMORE and Witchblade. For overseas artists, he served as sound producer for MR.BIG vocalist Eric Martin’s solo album Mr. Rock Vocalist, was the music director for Terry Bozzio’s solo live “History of Terry Bozzio in Japan,” and was consecutively nominated at the 56th and 57th Grammys as a member of Sly & Robbie and The Jam Masters, becoming a Grammy voting member.
The Grammy-recognized solo album Sakura was produced with a focus on Japanese traditional instruments, blending Japanese cultural aesthetics with an American sound. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness this masterpiece, which achieved the first-ever win by a Japanese artist in the Global Music category (formerly World Music), performed by a lineup of skilled players.
