Overview
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the debut of Japan’s city-pop pioneer Minami Yoshitaka, who will take the stage at Billboard Live in the spring. He debuted in 1973 with the album The Skyscraper’s Heroine, produced by Takashi Matsumoto, and his urbane sound—coupled with songs like “Monroe Walk” and “Slow Boogie”—has had a profound influence on the music scene. In recent years, alongside his energetic live performances, a collaborative album with Kiyotaka Sugiyama has also drawn attention. From a fifty-year career, look forward to a seasoned performance that unabashedly showcases timeless classics old and new.
