Lisa Ono, a pioneer of the bossa nova scene in Japan, will once again bring her Billboard Live tour to three cities this year. She debuted with her 1989 album Catopiri, and the 1999 album Dream sold over 200,000 copies. She has four Jazz-category Japan Gold Disc Awards to her name. Over the years, she has cultivated close ties with the gods of bossa nova—Antonio Carlos Jobim—and the jazz-samba master Joao Donato; in 2013, in recognition of her contributions to popularizing bossa nova in Japan, she was awarded the Rio Branco Order by the Brazilian government.
