Minami Yoshitaka
Yoshitaka Minami
Overview
Last year, Yoshitaka Minami, a pioneer of Japan’s city pop who celebrated his 50th debut anniversary, took the stage at Billboard Live this spring. He debuted in 1973 with the album Skyscraper’s Heroine, produced by Takashi Matsumoto, and has long influenced the music scene with his urbane sound, including songs like “Monroe Walk” and “Make It a Slow Boogie.” In recent years, in addition to energetic live performances, he has released a collaborative album with Kiyotaka Sugiyama. For this performance, the backing lineup features renowned players Akira Okazawa, Eiji Shimamura, Norito Sumitomo, and Keiji Matsumoto. From a career spanning half a century, he will deliver timeless classics in a mature, consummate performance—don’t miss it.
