Based in Brooklyn, New York, multi‑instrumentalist/composer/performer Taja Cheek's rising project L'Rain will make its debut Japan performance at Billboard Live!

Growing up immersed in music from an early age, she spent her childhood touching a variety of instruments—from classical piano and cello to bass.

She debuted in 2017 with the self-titled album L'Rain, and released her second album Fatigue in 2021. Her experimental sound—a collage of soul, psychedelia, musique concrète, and more—has been highly acclaimed worldwide, earning The Wire’s Best Album of the Year (2021) and Pitchfork’s No. 2 Best Album of the Year (2021).

With the release of her third album I Killed Your Dog last year and her work as a curator at a New York art facility, L'Rain’s ever-widening range of activities continues to deepen her artistry. With a one‑of‑a‑kind, genre‑bending style, she is a true emblem of a new era; her debut Japan performance is not to be missed.
