Yuji Toriyama, one of Japan’s leading guitarists, formed the group PYRAMID with his longtime friends and collaborators, drummer Akira Jinbo and pianist Hirotaka Izumi. The trio, who have been bandmates since high school and, as composers/producers/musicians, have been active at the forefront of the scene since the 1980s, continued the group even after Izumi’s sudden passing in 2021. They are currently working on producing an album that embodies a refreshed “Brand-New Instrumental” for the present era, and will present the second live installment of the project “PYRAMID CITY JAM” at Billboard.
