Overview
Howard Jones, a pioneer of electronica and one of pop’s leading melody-makers and songwriters, returns to the Billboard Live stage! In 1983, “New Song,” “What Is Love,” and “Hide and Seek” were huge hits in his homeland of the UK and in Japan. The 1985 track “Only Get Better” reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and the 1986 “Sad Wish” climbed to No. 4, propelling him to worldwide stardom. In 2019, he appeared at Billboard Live with the album Transform, and a stage adorned with his trademark synth-heavy arrangements—from old hits to new songs—became a big talking point. This time, the on-stage lineup includes Howard’s longtime collaborator and guitarist beloved by many musicians, Robin Bolt, and Nick Beggs, former Kajagoogoo member and, in recent years, leader of his own band Trifecta, a master of bass and the Chapman Stick.
