Lisa Ono, a pioneer of the Bossa Nova scene in Japan, will again headline Billboard Live’s three-city tour this year. Since her debut in 1989, she has carried music beyond borders, building close ties with the godfather of bossa nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and jazz-samba master Joao Donato. Her 1999 album Dream sold over 200,000 copies, and she is a four-time winner in the Jazz category at the Japan Gold Disc Awards. In 2013, she was awarded Brazil’s National Order of Rio Branco by the Brazilian government, in recognition of her achievements and influence both in Japan and abroad.
