Uniquely pop yet rich with genuine sophistication, the super duo SALT&SUGAR (Salt and Sugar) of Tetsu Shioya and Takeshi Satō makes its appearance at Billboard Live! Formed in 1996 by Tetsu Shioya—who, after serving as the pianist for Orquesta de la Luz, has pursued a wide range of activities including SALT BAND and the Tetsu Shioya Trio—and Takeshi Satō, who continues to excel as a top vocalist with a broad musical range and solid singing ability, SALT&SUGAR was established in 1996. In 2009, they released two albums simultaneously—an original album after 13 years and a live album—and their music, which fuse an authentic world with pop flavor in an innovative way, drew considerable attention. We look forward to the blissful moment when Tetsu Shioya’s jazz/classical-based music beautifully overlaps with Takeshi Satō’s rock/pop-based music.
