Introducing Miko Hanzaki, a singer-songwriter from Hokkaido who continues to weave songs that come from and stay close to people’s hearts. She became aware of music while still at university and moved to Tokyo on her own. After 17 years of activity, she was featured in numerous media as the “songstress of the shopping mall,” and made her major debut in April 2017. The album Uta-ben, which collects songs she wrote for NHK’s Minna no Uta such as “The Bento Box Song ~ A Letter to You ~” and “Sakura ~ To the One Who Could Not Graduate ~,” achieved long-running success. In addition, she has continued broad activities, including numerous concerts, and the song she provided for Yoshimi Tendō, “Osaka Koishigure,” was performed at the 70th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen. On April 6 this year, the release of her 5th-anniversary single “The Song of the Mayfly,” realized through Naotaro Moriyama’s songwriting, was announced. This release—her first time releasing a work through a song-provision arrangement—will bring this newly born expression to the Billboard Live stage.
