Cory Henry
Overview
Corey Henry, a Brooklyn-based Hammond organist rooted in funk and gospel and a former member of Snarky Puppy, will take the stage. Growing up playing church music, he performed on the Apollo Theater stage at age six, and in his teens he was tapped into Kenny Garrett’s band, launching his career. In 2016, his solo album The Revival reached No. 2 on the US jazz charts, making his presence felt. In 2018, with colleagues boasting illustrious careers, he formed The Funk Apostles; their debut album Art of Love updates 70s soul/funk music for the modern era. The work also led to collaborations with Lauryn Hill and Wolfpack. We hope you will experience this standout performance by a key figure in the vibrant contemporary jazz scene.
