On the Billboard Live stage, guitarist Shigeru Suzuki, whose name is etched in the history of Japanese rock, and Japan’s pride of saxophonists Kaori Kobayashi will perform together. Suzuki has not only been active with the legendary band Happy End and Tin Pan Alley—formed with Haruomi Hosono, Tatsuo Hayashi, and Masataka Matsutoya—but, beyond his work with those groups, has led Japan’s rock history for more than half a century, including his acclaimed solo album BAND WAGON. In recent years, he formed the band SKYE with Masataka Matsutoya, Rei Obara, and Tatsuo Hayashi, and continues to actively perform. Kaori Kobayashi, over the past 16 years, has released numerous solo albums and has consistently released music that transcends genres. Although a solo artist, in recent years she has also supported live performances for Yumi Matsutoya, SKYE, and Shigeru Izumiya. Her latest album NOW and FOREVER features a collaboration with Shigeru Suzuki, and the two musicians—always evolving as players—will create a remarkable musical chemistry.
