Lisa Ono, a pioneer and stalwart of Japan’s bossa nova, will appear at Billboard Live this autumn. She debuted with the album Katopiri in 1989, and her 1999 album Dream sold over 200,000 copies. She has also won the Japan Gold Disc Award in Jazz four times. Additionally, she has formed close ties with the gods of bossa nova—Antonio Carlos Jobim—and with jazz-samba maestro João Donato, and has maintained a worldwide presence. This time, under the title “Autumn Jazz & Bossa Nova Night,” she will perform a special show led by four band members: Masaki Hayashi (p), Tetsu Nishijima (b), Dennis Freese (ds), and Hiroshi Suzuki (sax).
