Kazutaka Ishii, who continues to be active as a musical theater actor and as a singer-songwriter, makes his Billboard Live debut!

He discovered music at the age of 12 and was greatly influenced by Freddie Mercury of Queen. In 1990, urged by a friend, he auditioned for Miss Saigon and, from among more than 15,000 applicants, miraculously earned a spot and began his debut. Since then, he has contributed songs to Disney’s animated film Aladdin and has taken a major step forward as Marius in Les Misérables.

Alongside this, he began working as a singer-songwriter and recording artist, showing remarkable production capability by recording independently. This spring, he delivered a passionate performance as Jekyll’s close friend in Jekyll & Hyde, and in November he is set to appear in the musical Sister Act for the fifth time.
