This year marks singer-songwriter Mari Iijima’s 40th anniversary since debut, and she will make her Billboard Live debut. Before her debut, she voiced the role of Lynn Minmay in the TV anime The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and the film’s theme song “Ai Oboete Imasu ka” became a huge hit. In 1983, produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto, she debuted as a new artist with her first album Rozé, which includes tracks such as “Love Sick” that have drawn attention amid the current city-pop boom. In 1989 she moved to Los Angeles, and in 1999 she established her own label ＜marimusic＞, releasing her first all-English album No Limit. Since then, her activities have expanded domestically and internationally, including a sold-out show at The Novo in Los Angeles in 2022. Ahead of this performance, in August a special cover album including new songs, For Lovers Only II, will be released.
