Salute Japan Tour
Larry Carlton
~The Crusaders - Steely Dan - Fourplay~
Larry Carlton
Overview
Guitar legend Larry Carlton, who has long led the fusion world, has decided to hold a farewell performance at Billboard Live to bid a temporary farewell to his world tour. He began his professional career in the late 1960s, and after his successes with The Crusaders, in 1978 he released the jazz-fusion milestone album Night Wanderings. The included track “Room 335” became a hit, and Carlton became a sought-after session musician, drawing love calls from renowned artists such as Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, and Billy Joel. He has been nominated for the Grammys 19 times, winning the honor four times, and here at Billboard Live he has moved us for a long time with numerous memorable performances. Now, that Mr.335—seeking to pause the dazzling pace of his brilliant career—will deliver his mature guitar playing, a program featuring The Crusaders’ and Steely Dan’s classic tunes, and Fourplay’s repertoire, which he has not often performed, as a Salute (a bow) to beloved Japan. Do not miss this precious moment that will likely be etched in music history forever.
