Yoshitaka Minami, a pioneer of Japan’s city pop who celebrated his 50th anniversary since debut last year, will take the stage at Billboard Live this spring. He debuted in 1973 with the album Heroine of the Skyscraper, produced by Takashi Matsumoto, and with songs like “Monroe Walk” and “Make It a Slow Boogie,” his urbane sound has had a profound influence on the music scene. In recent years, in addition to energetic live performances, he has released a collaborative album with Kiyotaka Sugiyama. For this show, the supporting lineup features noted players such as Akira Okazawa, Eiji Shimamura, Norito Sumitomo, and Keiji Matsumoto. From a career spanning half a century, he will deliver a collection of timeless songs—an accomplished, mature performance you won’t want to miss.
