Musical actor and singer-songwriter Kazutaka Ishii, known for his wide-ranging activities, takes the stage. This May at Billboard Live Osaka, he will also perform with Rio Uehara in the unit “Las Voses,” and just one week later he will deliver a special show welcoming Seiko Niizuma, one of Japan’s top divas in the musical theatre world. Debuting in 1992 in Miss Saigon, he later performed songs for Disney’s animated film Aladdin. He has since focused mainly on musicals, taking on roles such as Marius and Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. Having surpassed 30 years since his debut, his activities show no sign of slowing; this year, for example, he will appear in Isabeau at the very start of the year. In this performance, Ishii and Niizuma will feature songs from Les Misérables—the musical that brought them together—along with English-language duets that showcase their fluent languages, and moving musical theatre duets. As the title suggests, it will be a hot, bright, and passionate stage.
