Overview
“The drummer who has participated in the most recordings on Earth” Bernard Purdie returns to the Billboard Live stage for the first time in about nine years! Born and raised in Maryland, USA, he began his career as a session drummer in New York in his early twenties. He broke through after participating in James Brown’s “Ain’t That A Groove” and joining King Curtis’s band, the Kingpins. From 1970, he served as bandleader for Aretha Franklin, and since then he has left his mark on countless artists’ works across genres, including Steely Dan, Miles Davis, and many others. A true groove master who has helped shape music history and continues to exert a profound influence on future generations—please experience his virtuosity up close.
