Overview
Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio, who captivate fans with their bewitching cutting guitar and groove, make a comeback to Billboard Live for the first time in about four years. Born in 1954 in Detroit, Ray Parker Jr. began as a session guitarist in his teens, contributing to albums by Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, the Temptations, and more. Encouraged by Stevie Wonder to pursue songwriting in earnest, he produced the Rufus & Chaka Khan hit “YOU GOT THE LOVE,” and his talents as a songwriter blossomed. Encouraged by Herbie Hancock to release his own album, he formed his own group <Raydio> in 1977. Across that long career, he has brought us pop-flavored, high-quality soul music. This year, the latest Ghostbusters film in the series, Ghostbusters: Frozen Summer, which features the iconic theme he wrote in 1984, was released, drawing renewed attention to the gem-like disco/soul numbers that continue to shine no matter how times change. We hope you fully enjoy a glamorous stage brimming with hits that will make you want to stand up.
