Kazuki Kato, a winner of the 46th Kikuta Kazuo Theatre Award for the “Theatre Award” and known as the “maverick of the musical world,” will stage a 40th-birthday concert at Billboard Live for his debut there.

He first came to prominence in 2005 in the musical The Prince of Tennis, which became a gateway for young talents. Since his CD debut the following year, he has been active as an actor in drama, film, and stage, and as a voice actor, in addition to pursuing a vigorous career as a solo artist with music releases, a solo concert at Nippon Budokan, and a nationwide tour. This year’s anniversary concert to mark his turning 40 on Oct 7 will be held with a rotating lineup of guests from the “1984 generation”—voice actor Toshiyuki Toyonaga, former Takarazuka top star and actress Manato Asaka, and actor Kenta Kamakari, who knows Kato from The Prince of Tennis—as well as Kato himself, delivering a special stage featuring his own songs, J-POP, and musical numbers.
