Elephant Gym, a three-piece band from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, makes their debut. Formed in 2012, they center emotive, melodic basslines while the guitar, piano, and drums weave a warm, enveloping ensemble, showcasing a refined sense of songcraft and high technical prowess that has them rising to the forefront of the scene. In their early days they mainly built instrumental pieces around a three-piece band sound, but now they transcend genres and musical boundaries—singing themselves, collaborating with a wide range of artists, and in recent years even incorporating horn sections into their live performances—embodying a broad musical reach. In this show as well, some songs will feature horn arrangements and guest players for a special performance. As they continue to expand worldwide, they also tour in Japan; their blistering set at Fuji Rock Festival in 2022 remains Fresh in memory, and they have appeared at numerous festivals. Furthermore, in June 2024, at the Golden Melody Award (金曲奨), Taiwan’s Grammy-equivalent, their album WORLD, released in 2023 to mark the 10-year anniversary since their debut EP, won the Judges’ Prize. The album drew attention for featuring a large lineup of domestic and international collaborators, including Seiji Kameda (Tokyo Jihen), TENDRE, ?te (Whyte), and YILE LIN (林以樂).
