Four virtuosi who have wandered across the world and Japan’s music scenes have gathered to form a supreme quartet that “cooks” sounds with their respective sensibilities. Cozinha (コズィーニャ), meaning “kitchen” in Portuguese. Jazz, Brazilian, funk, and pop—music cultivated beyond genres, freely expressed and elevated into a one-of-a-kind groove, will appear at Billboard Live Yokohama.

The members are Tadataka Unno (p), who was loved by jazz legends such as Hank Jones and Jimmy Cobb and spent his late years as a regular in the Roy Hargrove Quintet; Yōsuke Onuma (g), who, centered on jazz, continues to elevate the cultures and music he encounters around the world into his own expression; Hideki Matsubara (b), who has supported countless recordings and live performances and helped build Japan’s music scene from behind the scenes; and Takashi Numazawa (ds), who has collaborated repeatedly with top domestic and international artists, including Chaka Khan, the Al Mackey All-Stars, and Sheila E., continuing to generate a groove that transcends genres.
