Since forming in 1968, the iconic Bay Area funk/soul band Tower of Power—pioneers in the scene—has kept touring without a break, and they will make their return to Billboard Live for the first time in about five years. Centered around Emilio Castillo and Stephen “Doc” Kupka, they formed in Oakland, California, and as the 1970s began they swept the era with hits like “So Very Hard To Go” and “You’re Still A Young Man,” while also contributing to works by Aerosmith, Elton John, Little Feat, and more. In recent years, they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2018 and released the album Soul Side of Town, featuring new material for the first time in 15 years. Since then the band has continued to thrill audiences around the world, marking a brilliant 55-year career with a world tour and the holiday EP It’s Christmas. The future of Tower of Power remains vigorous and dynamic, and they will deliver a performance that proves to fans worldwide who crave the band’s groove.
