Under the leadership of Carlos Sugano, a percussionist who represents Japan’s Latin music scene, the Latin Jazz Big Band Tropical Jazz Orchestra—whose top-notch musicians have kept audiences of all ages and backgrounds dancing—will take the stage again this year! Last year was a milestone, marking the band’s 30th anniversary; at the same time, long-time supporters Ken Morimura (Pf) and Getao Takahashi (Ba) retired. Welcoming new members Kei Hatakeyama (Pf) and Yuji Arashima (Ba), the tour in Yokohama and Osaka will serve as the unveiling of the new lineup. With the concept “Music is entertainment!” and its dazzling, powerful performances unchanged, the newly formed Tropical Jazz Orchestra—now with added personalities—takes its first step.
