Overview
Lisa Ono, a steadfast pioneer and icon of Japanese bossa nova, will appear at Billboard Live this autumn. She released her debut album Katopiri in 1989, and the 1999 album Dream sold over 200,000 copies. She has four Jazz-category awards at the Japan Gold Disc Award. She has also built close relationships with the godfather of bossa nova, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and with jazz-samba maestro João Donato, continuing to perform worldwide. This time, under the title “Autumn Jazz & Bossa Nova Night,” she will headline a special performance with a four-piece band: Masaki Hayashi (p), Toru Nishijima (b), Dennis Freese (ds), and Hiroshi Suzuki (sax). Please enjoy to your heart’s content her natural singing voice and the soothing guitar sounds.
