Since forming in 1980, the UK-based fusion-pop group Shakatak, beloved around the world, will take the Billboard Live stage as spring seems to be in the air. They debuted on the 1981 album Drivin’ Hard, and in 1982 the single “Night Birds” reached the UK Top 10. The album of the same name — Night Birds — also charted at No. 4 and became a long-running hit, propelling their name worldwide in an instant. In Japan, their songs have continued to color the times and scenes through placements in TV dramas and commercials.

Even after 45 years since their formation, their journey shows no signs of slowing. In recent years they’ve released commemorative editions and staged special performances, and since 2026 they’ve continued vigorous touring, mainly in Europe. Their sound, continually updated with a current sensibility, and the grooves that have grown more mature, give Shakatak’s live shows a new radiance.
