RINA, a rising pianist who is highly acclaimed even in the jazz capital, makes her Billboard Live debut. She studied under Makoto Ozone at the National University of Music, and after graduation she studied abroad at Berklee College of Music. In 2018 she won 2nd place and the Best Original Composition Award at the Ellis Marsalis International Jazz Piano Competition. On a CBS television program in the United States, she performed as a member of Jon Batiste’s band, including a performance in front of former First Lady Michelle Obama, and has steadily built her career while based in New York. Since returning to Japan during the pandemic, she has remained energetically active and has released two original albums to date. In 2024 she was appointed Hall Artist at Mizuki Hall (Kohoku Ward Citizens’ Cultural Center in Yokohama), spreading the charm of jazz to a broad range of generations. In July 2025 she will perform at the Oscar Peterson Centenary Concert held in Canada. She is also currently appearing on TBS TV's morning information programs “The Time” and “The Time’,” drawing media attention. For this concert, a trio lineup that can electrify Japan’s leading jazz clubs will be joined by special guest Eric Miyashiro.
