Overview
Orquesta de la Luz, the salsa band Japan is proud to call its own, will ignite Billboard Live with scorching Latin beats! Their 1990 debut album De La Luz topped the US Latin charts for 11 consecutive weeks, and since then they have continued to thrive worldwide, including winning the United Nations Peace Prize, earning a Grammy nomination, and touring in 23 countries. The album released last year to commemorate their 40th anniversary features contributions this year from leading figures in the Latin music scene who have won Grammys in the Tropical Latin Album category—Tony Sukāru, Naoto Inti Raymi, Maki Ohguro, and Toma Rose—and it reached No. 1 on the iTunes Store Latin charts in Panama, Russia, Kenya, and Japan. It drew a great deal of attention. This year marks their 35th anniversary since debut, with plans for a best-of album release and an overseas tour. Look forward to a special stage under the theme “Japan Latinization Project,” wrapped in their energetic and happiness-filled music.
